and sometimes when you go to drink, it leaks out (yup something else to stain your shirt)For this reason, I can 't recommend getting this product, even if its on sale and is cheaper then the cost of a single decent travel mug. I have to tighten them so much that it was difficult to open them when I got home. Even though they have gaskets in the caps, the cups still leak between the lid and cup. The cups were so hot that you would not be able to hold a hot cup of freshly brewed coffee without using the hande (which aren't all that comfortable either).Lastly, the black plastic bottoms of the cups are not sealed so after washing, even hand washing, water would seep into it and sit there. I purchased this coffee maker because I have used other Zojirushi products before and have been very happy with them. Even after the first use I was very disappointed with the quality of these cups. The cups didn't insulate very well either.
Al;l in all, it is well make despite it's quirks. It seems that two lights equal one cup and one light equals two cups. Following the instructions which have two methods to make a single cup, I filled up the reservoir to the mark that is a black tab and hard to see without a lot of light. Alternately, pressing the bottom button and then the top 1 cup button also will produce a single cup. Although my cups have vent holes, when any liquid (all of the time) is on the top of the lid it wicks in between the slide and cap. The vent hole is too small and the surface tension of the liquid covers the hole, blocking the air flow, causing the coffee to dribble out. I then pressed the 1 cup button and a single light came on. I discovered that the 1 cup button needs to be pressed twice so that both lights come on.
Confusing no. Drilling the vent hole slightly larger cures this problem. When I first tried the coffee maker I wanted to make a single cup. The maker proceeded to brew coffee, but did not stop at one cup. As mentioned in another review, drinking was a problem as well.
that would have made it absolutely perfect. 3 heaping tsp for this machine, 4 for the Melitta.3. uses less coffee than my same style melitta for a significantly better cup of coffee. i wish it had a brew to carafe option. pros:1. no mess or leak like my proctor silex2. smaller footprint means more counter space for other things.cons:1.
Easy to set up for 2 quick cups of coffee. This coffee maker really surprised me with its excellent quality and taste. Really glad I purchased this before they were gone.
Many cups will work, but make sure you don't put a small cup in it. It shuts off a few minutes after brewing. It makes the same quantity of hot water every time(no matter how much water is in the pot). The last time there were a bunch people over, I made coffee when people asked for it, and there was never a stale pot of coffee looking for drinkers. I have not experienced the problems other reviewers have. It makes a good (strong) cup of coffee in a few minutes, is easy to clean and is a very good value for the money.I like that there's nothing other than the cup to clean (although I rinse out the filter holder from time to time). One cup or two, it's easy to use.Unless I'm brewing for a bunch of people, I have no reason to get the other coffee pot out of storage.
